Trish David is a certified Yoga therapist and teacher, counsellor and school teacher. These seemingly varied roles form an indivisible whole for Trish, who particularly enjoys working one-on-one and with small target groups. She began teaching Yoga in 2007 and works with all ages through organisations such as FSG, Cancer Council, schools and Gold Coast Active and Healthy. She is a volunteer C-Vivor group leader at Cancer Council Queensland and she teaches a weekly C-Vivor Yoga class.
Practising Yoga means Trish has been fortunate to experience outstanding teaching from various traditions and teachers: Diana Bourel, Laurene Hassard, Jan O’Donohue, Shanti Gowans, Savitri Devi, Donna Farhi, A.G. & Indra Mohan, Annette Loudon, Liz Bennett, Leanne Davis, Saraswathi Vasudevan and Dr N. Chandrasekaran. Fuyuko Toyota and Sal Flynn have been mentors in Yoga and Counselling respectively. Trish has studied for a Cert. IV Yoga Education, Diploma Integral Yoga, Grad.Cert. in Yoga Therapy (Enlightened Events) and Post-Grad.Dip. in Yoga Therapy (Yoga Therapy Australia) which includes a two-week internship in Chennai.
As a school teacher, Trish has worked in New Caledonia, Vietnam, France, Germany and the French West Indies. Her current work involves delivering Yoga and mindfulness for staff and students. Working in education here and overseas has taught Trish a lot about dealing with a broad public, focussing on relationships and progressing step-by-step to develop individualised approaches to help students learn and grow. In 2013, she completed a M.Ed. with research into senior school teachers practising Yoga.
In the counselling field, Trish has studied with Amy Hawkes (org.psy), Russ Harris (ACT Therapy) and Louise Hayes (DNA-v) among others. Trish completed the 8-week M.B.C.T. course. She is also a Lifeline Crisis Support Worker. She writes a weekly wellbeing article in the school newsletter and has also authored several articles on Yoga, published in Yoga Today and Australian Yoga Life. Trish loves hiking with family and friends and beach walks with her Spoodle, Jesse.
